The Empire's measurements are based on Stoney units, natural units defined by c, the vacuum speed of light, G, the gravitational constant, e, the charge of the electron, and (4πε0)-1, the Coulomb constant. lS = 1.3807x10-36 meters. mS = 1.8592x10-9 kilograms. tS = 4.6054x10-45 seconds.
The unit of length is the duni, equal to 2x1036 Stoney lengths or 2.7614 meters. A duni is equivalent to a horse racing length. It is the mandated minimum floor-to-ceiling span within a human living space (exceptions may be made for religious, philosophical, or experimental purposes). The maximum height permitted adult citizens is .78 duni and the minimum height is .62 duni.
The unit of weight is the tumi, equal to 2x109 Stoney masses or 3.7184 kilos. It is the avenerage weight of a newly hatched human citizen.
The unit of time is the lucid, or imperial second. It equals 2x1044 Stoney seconds or .92108 Earth seconds. It has the approximate duration of a human heartbeat.
The Lalian year consists of ten tenthyears, each made up of three tendays.

The Lalian day consists of thirty hours, each made up of 3750 imperial seconds. The planet's rotation and orbital speed have been carefully adjusted to exactly fit the calendar.
The imperial minute, also called the quinquagintalucid, is 50 imperial seconds long, or about 46 Earth seconds.
Hectoseconds, equal to about 1½ Earth minutes, are also commonly used.
The Lalian year consists of 31,086,450 seconds, while an Earth-year has 31,536,000 seconds. The Lalian year is shorter by a bit more than five Earth days.
All the planets of the Empire have their own local days, hours, minutes, and seasons, but imperial seconds are standard throughout the galaxy. The planets reckon their histories according to imperial years.
